Holding Your Client Accountable for Hair Extension Care

Alright, listen up – no matter how perfect your application is, if your client treats their extensions like a disposable razor, we’ve got problems. You can’t do it all! Clients need to know that extensions are like the designer handbag of hair – beautiful, expensive, and absolutely something you take care of.

Before those extensions are even installed, let them know: proper maintenance is non-negotiable. Compare it to something they value – like you wouldn’t spill wine on a Chanel bag, right? The same goes for bargain-bin products. It’s not an option.

• Brush it out: Get them the right brush, and let them know, “Yes, you really need to use this.” And no aggressive tugging near the roots – treat it like the fine hair couture it is.
• Products Matter: Sulfates are the enemy, and you’ve got to make sure they know it. A bad product can take a toll on extensions faster than cheap hairspray at a bad 80s prom.
• Wet Hair is Fragile: Let them know it’s like a cashmere sweater – handle with care! No aggressive towel drying or ripping through knots.

Tell them, “If you see tangles, slipping, or matting, call me ASAP.” Waiting too long can turn a small issue into a disaster. It's better to handle it early before it becomes a hair horror story.

If they’ve been slacking on maintenance, don’t be afraid to remind them – Don't let them blame you, if they were installed correctly and they are following maintenance tips, they should be good!

In the end, extensions don’t get damaged because of the method. It’s all about how they’re cared for. You’re giving your clients a luxury service – it’s up to them to treat it that way!
